Winning a Round 4 match at an ongoing European Team Chess Championship
in Greece allowed Armenia to pull itself closer to the open-section
leaders five days before the end of the competition.

A 1-3 defeat to titleholders Azerbaijan in Round 2 on Friday and a
further draw against England the next day put Armenia in an unusual
14th-26th spot (among 38 competing nations) at the tournament in
Porto Carras. But the reigning World Champions led by FIDE's number
three player Levon Aronian scored an important victory and collected
two points against Croatia on Sunday to stay in the contest that hits
    the equator today.

Before playing Denmark on Monday Armenia was in 9th place with 5
points, two points behind a group of leaders including Germany,
Azerbaijan, France, Spain and Bulgaria. Romania, Greece and the
    Netherlands had 6 points.

In the competition among women's teams Armenia fell back to the 11th
spot after losing to Georgia on Sunday. Armenia's rival on Monday
is Slovenia. Georgia and Russia remained joint leaders after scoring
four victories in as many matches they had played.

The matches in Greece start at 3:00 pm (5:00 pm Yerevan time). For
