    ARMENIAN-INDIAN COMMUNICATIONS & IT CENTER OPENED IN YEREVAN UNIVERSITY

    An Armenian-Indian communications and information technology center
    has been opened at the Department of Mathematics and Technology,
    Yerevan State University.

    Mr. Sachin Pilot, Minister of State in the Indian Ministry of
    Communications and Information Technology, participated in the
    opening ceremony.

    The center is designed to train competitive specialists, create joint
    programs and carry out close cooperation between the Armenian and
    Indian IT sectors. The center will conduct research in 20 fields.

    The center staff has been retrained in India. The Indian side has
    presented the center with a supercomputer, the first in the South
    Caucasus. Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said that the center
    will also contribute to the development of the Gyumri science and
    technology park.

    Mr. Sachin Pilot noted that India is willing to impart it 20-year
    experience to Armenia. It will be scientific rather than financial
    assistance to Armenia, he added.
