SONG DEDICATED TO TRCHKAN WATERFALL PERFORMED DURING TRIUMPHANT CONCERT

The area near Trchkan waterfall was again overcrowded on Sunday.
Before participating in a triumphant concert in the village of
Nalband, members of a recently formed social initiative "Let's
Conserve the Trchkan Waterfall" launched a massive clean-up in the
area. Later, they left for Nalband where a rock concert was held
with the participation of groups BAMBIR, VORDAN KARMIR, LOUSNELIUS,
SCREAM, YAN and THE DREAMERS.
A song was performed during the concert dedicated to the waterfall.
On October 25, activists of the "Let's Conserve the Trchkan Waterfall"
put up tents near the waterfall demanding Robshin Ltd to suspend the
construction of a hydropower plant on the endangered waterfall.
In response to protests staged by the initiative group, Prime Minister
Tigran Sargsyan suggested last week that the government grant Trchkan
a specially protected area status. The government decided to give
Trchkan a status that would make it immune to all sorts of industrial
exploitation.
