Zvartnots International Airport celebrated today the opening of its new
departure terminal, honoring the first passenger with a special prize.

Fenya Yeghiazaryan, who was departing to St Petersburg to attend
the wedding of her friend's son, was awarded the first passenger
certificate and an opportunity to shop from the duty-free salon for
up to $100. She used her gift to purchase Armenian brandy and sweets
    for the hosting family.

The new terminal has a total area of 34,000 sq m and 48 registration
desks (instead of the former 24).

Speaking to Tert.am, Andranik Skhyan, the director of Armenia
International Airports, CJSC said the increased number of desks at
the terminal aims to facilitate registration procedures to prevent
    passenger jams.

Last year, the airport served 1,600 passengers. With its new terminal,
it now has the opportunity to serve up to 3.5 million people annually.

"When the passenger flow reaches 3 million. we'll think of extending
    [the area]," Shkhyan said.

The new terminal has an office building and a VIP hall, as well as a
new parking lot with a total area of 20,000 sq. m. Its construction,
which began in October 2008, attracted $160 million investment. The
terminal is equipped with an international security system, an X-ray
check system, central heating and an air-conditioning system.

As Eduardo Ernekyan, the president of Armenia International Airports
corporation told reporters, the old building will reopen as a hotel
    in future.

"We have a big variety of ideas. Armenia deserves the best so
we will try our utmost. What has been done will raise Armenia's
rating, bringing more tourist to the country and creating new job
    opportunities," he said.
