TRCHKAN WATERFALL NOT COMPLETELY OUT OF HAZARD YET

Trchkan waterfall seems to be rescued, and yet a lot remains to be
done, a young activist has said.
"Our mission is over inasmuch as all the inhabitants of our campus
returned to Yerevan, but there are still lots of things to be done
in Trchkan and not only there. So we'll keep working with ten times
more energy," Arman Vermishyan, a member of the group Let's Protect
Trchkan Waterfall, told a news conference on Tuesday.
He said the attempted construction of a hydropower in Trchkan greatly
affected the ecosystem on the territory, creating landslides.
"Our victory is somewhat of a revolutionary character. It will only be
the beginning of a campaign we are going to launch in future. I think
our efforts were a success as they helped the youth to unite," he said.
Karine Danielyan, an environmentalist also attending the news
conference, said Armenians have been indifferent to nature protection
in the past 20 years.
"We have brilliant young people who for some reason forget everything
once money is the issue. But the nature we have in our small country is
more than any richness and can become a source of income if attended
to," she said, characterizing the victory in Trchkan's protection
environmentalists' achievement.
