OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have reiterated that it is unacceptable
to solve Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through use of force.
The statement came from Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Alexander
Lukashevic.
"The report of the Group (to the OSCE permanent council) states
that the conflict has no military solution and that only a political
will of the parties may lead to positive outcome," Lukashevic told
a briefing in Moscow on Thursday.
The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs also gave an insight on "steps taken to
improve atmosphere in talks as well as to consolidate trust-building
measures and ceasefire."
The co-chairs plan to visit the region later this month to meet
Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders "to continue their mediation efforts
in a work with the parties," the spokesperson said.
The Minsk Group report to the permanent council also said that over 14
separate meetings were held with Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents
this year.
"The contacts with Armenian and Azerbaijani leadership focused
on peace process, work on draft basic principles of resolution of
Nagorno-Kaabakh conflict conducted with the deep involvement and
personal participation of the Russian President in coordination with
their U.S. and French counterparts," Lukashevic noted.
