"The number of Iranian tourists visiting Armenia exceeds 100 thousand,
and we hope their number will reach one million," Ali Akbar Salehi
said, attaching importance to the elimination of the visa regime
between the two countries.
Although the commodity turnover between the two countries reaches
$300 million, the potential is even greater, he said.
Elaborating on the country's nuclear program, Salehi reiterated that
Iran's nuclear programs pursue only peaceful purposes.
"There is no serious proof that Iran is going to create a nuclear
warhead. The West is exerting pressure on Iran without serious
arguments and proof," he said.
Iran would be upfront with the world about any plans to produce
nuclear weapons, the Islamic Republic's Foreign Minister said.
"If we wanted to develop nuclear weapons, we would openly announce
that," he added.
"The IAEA statements seek to put pressure on Iran," Salehi said. "Let
them publish the report, but it's hilarious," the Minister said,
adding that "the pressures do not weaken Iran. On the contrary, they
make the country more united." He advised the IAEA not to question
its own fairness by publishing false information.
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said "the relations
between Armenia and Iran are developing dynamically."
"There are promising joint projects in the fields of energy and
transport."
The main issue on the agenda is the visit of Iranian President Mahmoud
Amadinejad to Armenia later this year, he added.
