ARMENIAN PRESIDENT MEETS WITH EURONEST CO-PRESIDENT

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan held a meeting Nov. 11 with EURONEST
Co-President Kristian Vigenin.
The Armenian leader stressed the importance of Mr. Vigenin's visit
to Armenia. It is a good opportunity for getting acquainted with the
developments in Armenia and in the region, as well as with present
challenges. President Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that Mr. Vigenin's
visit will give impetus to the development of Armenia-EU relations.
With respect to parliamentary cooperation between the EU member-states
and their eastern neighbors under the Eastern Partnership project,
as well as EURONEST activities, the sides noted it is a good platform
for promoting dialogue, closer ties and cooperation between the
participating countries.
Mr. Vigenin noted that results of cooperation between MPs are
appreciable, and the aim of his visit is to encourage this cooperation.
The sides also addressed the reforms being implemented in Armenia. The
Armenian leader stressed that Armenia's ties with the European Union
are based on a common value system. He noted that the reforms being
implemented in the country are of high importance for the development
of Armenia's cooperation with the EU.
