Share inShare.0Epress.am -- Prosperous Armenia MP Naira Zohrabyan is
frankly surprised that, in covering Sunday's municipal elections in the
northern Armenian city of Ijevan, the press is presenting exaggerated
stories (on vote buying and the like), which she says are untrue.
"All that took place was the Ijevan mayoral election. And Ijevan
residents with an advantage of 1,685 votes, gave its 5,044-strong
vote of confidence to our party member. I am once again convinced
that in not only Armenian mythology, but also Armenian politics,
the most acceptable fairy tale is The Death of Kikos," she said.
As for the incidents that took place during elections, the MP said
that every election implies a certain amount of tension.
Zohrabyan said that regarding the incidents, police already explained
that two men were called in for questioning on suspicion of vote
buying; however, they were later released without charges. The MP
asserted, she doesn't even know on whose side the two men who were
detained were.
Recall, Prosperous Armenia candidate Vardan Ghalumyan won yesterday's
election, beating HHK-affiliated incumbent Varuzhan Nersisyan.
