CIS YOUNG ASTRONOMERS TO HOLD CONFERENCE IN YEREVAN

Young scientists and students from the Commonwealth of Independent
States (CIS) will hold a conference, "50 years of space age: real
and virtual sky studies" in Yerevan, Nov. 22 to 24.
The participants will discuss the results of latest astronomical
research, as well as such issues as issues as databases, scientific
expeditions and virtual observations. The conference is as part of
celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the first space flight. Among
the participants will be 50 students and young scientists from Armenia,
Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan
and Uzbekistan, as well as Russian and European lecturers, who will
deliver reports.
Students will deliver reports on their post-graduate papers. Practical
work and visits to the Byurakan observatory will be organized. The
conference will be held in Russian and English. The Russian-Armenian
Cooperation Foundation is sponsor of the conference.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 22. The ceremony will take
place at the small hall of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences
(ANAS).
