ARMENIAN GOVERNOR TO FACE LAWSUIT FOR ASSAULTING BUSINESSWOMAN

The Special Investigative Service is going to institute a criminal
proceeding against Surik Khachatryan. the governor of the southeeatern
Syunik province, after the latter was claimed to have assaulted
a businesswoman.
In an appeal filed with the Service, Silva Hambardzumyan said the
governor had punched her in the head at Yerevan's Marrott Armenia
hotel on Monday.
Hambardzumyan was offered a forensic examination but she reportedly
declined to see a doctor, saying that the assault had only inflicted
pain on her, without causing a bodily damage.
The criminal case was filed under Artilce118 of Armenia's Criminal Code
(Battery). An inquest is under way.
