A bill on bodyguard is on the Armenian Parliament's agenda now.

In an interview with the Shant TV channel, Hrair Karapetyan,
a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun
(ARF-D) parliamentary group, and Hovhannes Sahakyan, a member of the
Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) group, said that the bill allows
those wishing to apply to relevant agencies for bodyguard. Only one
car and three bodyguards can accompany a person.

"After considering international practice and discussing the issue
with experts, particularly with police, we arrived at the conclusion
that three bodyguards ca well protect a person. Bodyguards have now
become a means of 'settling issues', and I think the bill is too late,"
Karapetyan said. Government officials will be protected according to
    law, he added.

"The bill is intended for the persons that had their personal
bodyguards registered as staffers at government agencies. It is common
knowledge that it is the bodyguards they are involved in a number of
    criminal incidents," Karapetyan said.

Hovhannes Sahakyan, in turn, said that more and more people are
keeping more and more bodyguards. The new bill also regulates the
use of special signals, uniform and cars.

As regards the use of weapons, the relevant law will regulate it.

Legal entities will be provided with weapons to distribute them
    among bodyguards.

Armenia's police will supervise all the procedures and officially
register the weapons. Bodyguards will be obliged to inform the police
in case they use weapons within 24 hours. Otherwise, they will have
    their licenses taken away.
