Archbishop, Nobel Peace prize winner Desmond Tutu announced the
5 nominates for the International Children's Peace Award 2011 in
Cape Town. The award is an initiative of the Dutch "KidsRights"
organization, which was formed during the Summit of Peace Laureates
chaired by Mikhail Gorbachev in 2005. The award is given every year
to the child whose actions have changed something in the issues which
affect children throughout the world.
As the organization's website informs the nominates are: 17-year-old
Lisa from Palestine, 13-year-old Malala from Pakistan, 17-year-old
Michaela from South Africa, 17-year-old Nikolay from Armenia and
14-year-old Winfred from Uganda. They have been chosen from 98 children
who were presented from 42 countries. One of them will be given the
Children's Peace award on November 21, 2011, in the Netherlands.
Nikolay from Armenia organizes discussions and presentations concerning
human rights. He wants to motivate other children to spread information
on human rights and democracy in Armenia. Nikolay shares his thoughts
on his website and blog.
