ISTANBUL. - The Turkish media claim that PKK militant Mensur Guzel,
who had hijacked a ferry and was subsequently killed by the police
in Turkey, was Armenian.
Turkey's Habervaktim website presents this news as a shock and again
portrays being Armenian in a very negative manner. They say Mensur
Guzel was Armenian because he was from the Ayhan village of Diyarbakir
province's Kolp region, and this village was an Armenian settlement
until 1915. It is also noted that Guzel's relatives have Armenian
names, such as the Vosdoyan surname and the name Hagop.
