YEREVAN. - Armenian National Assembly (NA) Secretariat has calculated
that Monday, November 21, is the date when NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan
will have to resubmit his resignation from office, or withdraw it,
Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes.
"News is circulated in governmental corridors that there are forces
which urge Abrahamyan not to repeat his resignation. According to
news, these well-known forces hope to take advantage of NA Speaker's
withdrawal of his resignation in order to change the current ratio at
NA and to establish a new faction, on the basis of [ruling coalition's
Republican Party of Armenia] RPA; [and this faction] will attempt to
form a majority with the [coalition's Prosperous Armenia Party] PAP.
Hovik Abrahamyan, however, will most likely repeat his resignation,
since he knows he is vulnerable before the authorities, and the
observers think when he is no longer de jure NA Speaker, [President]
Serzh Sargsyan will launch a real attack against Prosperous Armenia,"
Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
