received a team led by Volkan Bozkyr, Chairman of the International
Relations Committee of the Great National Assembly of Turkey, the
Parliament of Azerbaijan reported at its Website.
Asadov said Azerbaijani-Turkish relations develop in an ascending
manner on all directions and are an example for other countries. The
two countries have so far concluded some 170 legal documents, and the
President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Turkey signed a Joint
Declaration to establish a Top-Level Council for Strategic Cooperation.
This is an illustrative example of top-level relations between the
two states, Asadov noted.
He also voiced his satisfaction with the level of inter-parliamentary
links between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
For his part, Bozkyr highly appreciated current development of
Azerbaijan. He also touched upon the issue of settlement of the Nagorno
Karabakh conflict. The official said the Turkish-Armenian borders will
not be opened until this conflict is resolved. In this connection,
the Zurich Protocols also will not be submitted for discussion to
the International Relations Committee, he added.
In addition, Volkan Bozkyr voiced his gratitude to the Azerbaijani
nation and state for attention to and care about those who had suffered
from an earthquake in Van.
Prospects of development of inter-parliamentary links, and issues
of international partnership and struggle with terrorism were also
examined at the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Safa Mirzoyev, Head of the
Parliament's Staff, Samed Seyidov, Chairman of the Parliament's
International Relations and Inter-Parliamentary Links Committee,
