SYLVIE VARTAN SPEAKS OF HER ARMENIAN ORIGIN

French pop star Sylvie Vartan has for the first time spoken about
her Armenian origins, Jean Eckian, a French Armenian independent
journalist, reported from Paris, according to tert.am.
Speaking recently on television, the singer said her father, Georges
Vartan, who is a former press officer at the French Embassy in Sofia,
is of Armenian descent.
"Yes I'm an Armenian on my father's side," she told Michel Drucker,
the host of the popular TV show Vivement dimanche.
Sylvie Vartan was born in 1944 to a Bulgarian mother and an Armenian
father. In December 1952, her family moved to Paris.
Silvie got into show business when she was 16. Her song " La plus
belle pour aller danser" (The most beautiful to go dancing, by Charles
Aznavour) brought her a great success.
Her first husband was the French singer Johnny Hallyday. Silvie later
married the American film producer Tony Scotti. She has one son,
David Hallyday, whio is also a pop star in France.
