goals set in the US. The true information that we delivered to the US
society about the region influenced the formation of current foreign
policy of Washington", said Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, Rector
of the Azerbaijani Diplomatic Academy Hafiz Pashayev at the conference
"20th anniversary of independence: evolution of Azerbaijan's foreign
policy" organized by NATO International School of Azerbaijan (NISA)
in Baku.
Deputy Minister noted that Azerbaijan-US cooperation in combating
terrorism was one of the priority issues. He underlined that
Azerbaijan's activity in energy policy issue caused the increase of
US' interest in the region: "The current situation shows that the
interest of the US in Azerbaijan is greater than in Armenia...It is
an indicator of the Azerbaijan's political weight and its commitment
to the cooperation in the region".
