ARMENIAN PRESIDENT BESTOWS MEDAL ON KIRIL

Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan bestowed a medal on Kiril, Patriarch
of Moscow and All Russians at a reception in his residence in Yerevan
on Monday.
Patriarch Kiril was handed the medal - Saint Mesrop Mashtots - for
his outstanding input in deepening friendship between the Armenian and
Russian nations, for strengthening the ties between the two churches
and for preservation and development of spiritual values.
Serzh Sargsyan welcomed his visit to Armenia and expressed hope that
it would contribute to further strengthening friendly ties between
the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church.
Patriarch Kiril , in turn, mentioned that it is a great pleasure for
him to visit Armenia - the oldest cradle of Christianity.
He also thanked Sargsyan and His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos
of All Armenians, for the organization of the presidium meeting of
CIS Interfaith Council in Yerevan and conveyed his blessing to the
Armenian people.
