Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan received the EU Special Representative
for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Ambassador
Philippe Lefort. Discussed were issues related to the perspectives
of cooperation with the European Union in the field of defense.

At the request of the guest, the Armenian Defense Minister presented
the situation at the line of contact with the armed forces of
Azerbaijan, and called the attention of the EU Representative to the
    activity of the Azeri snipers.

Philippe Lefort assured that he would do his best under his mandate
to support the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs.

"The European Union does not want to see a new war in the South
Caucasus. Regional peace stems from EU interests," he said.

"Committed to the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, the
Armenian side strongly observes the ceasefire regime, and resorts
to response actions exceptionally to neutralize the provocations of
    Azerbaijani snipers," Philippe Lefort.
