Armenia
Eleventh World Conference of UNESCO World Heritage Cities Organization
was held in Sintra, Portugal. A delegation from Armenia's Etchmiadzin
city, led by Mayor Karen Grigoryan, also attended the event.
To note, more than 200 countries are members in this Organization
and Etchmiadzin is a member since 2007.
In parallel with the conference, Karen Grigoryan also met with the
Organization's headship, UNESCO representatives, and several city
mayors from a number of countries. During the meetings, the parties
discussed the avenues for cooperation in urban economy management
and in other domains.
As per the conference organizers, the Etchmiadzin delegation's
attendance in itself is valuable in terms of the city and its
residents, and also toward consolidating Armenia's international
standing.
