GYUMRI- The government will not give a place for living to Elmira
Tamazyan who takes care of three underage orphans.
"I collect the children's clothes during winter and in spring when the
street tap works again, I wash them," said Elmira to the representative
of "Shirak's center".
This family lives in one of their relative's ruined house without
commodities and water supply. Though they lost their house because
of the earth quake, the government will not give them a new one.
The father died three years ago. The elder child Burastan is
13-year-old, her younger sister Anahit is 10-year-old, the youngest,
Karushik, is 4 years old. The mother earns money for the family by
doing daily cleaning work in different houses. Sometimes she has to
leave her child alone at home, as the older boys of the neighborhood
often abuse her. The child cannot go to kinder garden, because her
mother cannot pay the fees.
Even though Elmira Tamazyan's house is located in center of Gyumri
city, everybody, even the international organizations and NGOs in
Gyumri neglect her and her children.
