ISTANBUL DISTRICT MAYOR AGAIN AWARD RECIPIENT OF ARMENIAN PATRIARCHATE

ISTANBUL. - The "Tablecloth of Honor" event, which is traditionally
held by Istanbul Armenians, this year was organized by Mustafa Sarigul,
the mayor of Istanbul's Shishli district.During the event, Sarigul
received an award by the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople,
Turkey's Milliyet daily writes.In his speech, the mayor expressed
gratitude for receiving the award, noting that with the latter he
feels more obligated before his fellow citizens.
Marking 550th foundation anniversary of the Armenian Patriarchate
of Constantinople, back in May, Mustafa Sarigul had received the
Patriarch Hovhannes Golod special medal.
"I love you very much," the mayor said, in Armenian, during his
thank-you speech. Mustafa Sarigul is the first Muslim to receive
this award.
