YEREVAN. - The Southern Corridor should not be allowed to become a
source for nourishing a new war, Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan
on Friday stated during his address at EU Eastern Partnership Summit
being held in Warsaw, Poland. In his address, Sargsyan specifically
reflected on energy projects.
"Armenia understands the need for energy safety and securing diversity
in energy supply sources for EU countries, but Armenia similarly has
the right to expect such understanding with respect to its security,
regional stability, and equal development. I believe the policy
of EU - the champion of security and peace in South Caucasus-must
contribute to equal regional development and, consequently, to
maintaining balance. We definitely want for the region to be involved
in all-European projects, which in its turn would strengthen existing
relations between South Caucasus and EU. Implementation of such
projects shall not create conditions which would make any country
find itself in more favorable positions, especially when that capital
is used against regional security. I believe EU knows the region's
current fragile condition, all too well. The Southern Corridor should
not be allowed to become a source for nourishing a new war," reads
