Armenian historical heritage under utter neglect - youth initiative

YEREVAN. - `We Will Not Keep Silent' youth initiative continues to
voice the neglect of Armenian people's historical heritage, and this
time it reflected on the Kakavaberd Fortress.`Armenians love to
constantly speak about Armenian monuments, located in the territories
of enemy countries, which are being destroyed because of indifference,
but without noticing the same problem under their nose. In the
meantime, particularity of the heritage being destroyed within Armenia
is that it can still be saved,' the youth initiative's statement
reads.
`Today Kakavaberd is under utter neglect in the area of Khosrov
Preserve, whose management, under the name of developing ecotourism,
demand 3,000 drams [$8 US] from each trekker just to visit it. It is
unknown as to where that money is going, but it is evident that
Kakavaberd does not `sense that on its skin.''
`We Will Not Keep Silent' youth initiative also released a video on
the current state of Kakavaberd Fortress. The video was shot on
September 6, 2011.
