The Declaration adopted at the Eastern Partnership summit is
interesting and can yield big results, Director of the Caucasus
Institute, Alexander Iskandaryan told a news conference.
`There are important points concerning the South Caucasus, with the
problems, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, requiring
resolution exclusively through peaceful means, based on international
norms and the UN Regulations which include territorial integrity and
the right of nations to self-determination,' the expert said.
According to him, the negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh should continue
within the OSCE Minsk Group, and the EU should also take part in this
process.
In return, Director of the Armenian branch of the Institute of CIS
countries, Alexander Markarov said that the Declaration once again
highlights that conflicts should be resolved quickly and exclusively
through peaceful means, based on international norms.
The Eastern Partnership summit adopted a Joint Declaration which said
that the conflicts in the Eastern Partnership countries should be
resolved based on the principles of international law as well as
documents and declarations adopted by the international organizations
earlier.
