ARMENIA TO HOST DAYS OF RUSSIAN SPEECH FROM OCTOBER 3 TO 9

Days of Russian Speech are launching in Armenia today. From October
3 to 9, all populated areas of Armenia will host various events -
performances, evenings of Russian poetry and song, book launch
ceremonies, roundtable discussions, exhibitions, schools. A new
Russian bookstore will open in 73 Mashtots as part of the Days of
Russian Speech.
The main event, scheduled for October 7, dedicated to the 20th
anniversary of Armenia's independence, will take place at Al.
Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet.
This is the fourth year Armenia is hosting Days of Russian Speech,
Deputy Minister of Culture Arev Samuelyan told reporters in Yerevan.
Days of Russian Speech are traditionally held under the auspices
of the Armenian President and with the support of the Ministry of
Culture. This year, Days of Russian Speech are dedicated to the 20th
anniversary of CIS.
Head of representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo, Advisor of the
Russian Embassy in Armenia, Viktor Krivopuskov noted that a large
Russian delegation has arrived in Armenia. He stressed that Armenia
is the only CIS state to host Days of Russian Speech. Surveys show
that 85 percent of Armenian parents attach importance to the Russian
language and want their children to learn Russian.
