The round-the-clock rally of the Armenian National Congress (ANC)
continues in Liberty Square, in Yerevan, and according to ANC
representatives it will end up only by early elections.

ArmeniaNow has counted more than 50 tents in Liberty Square. ANC
reported that the nonstop rally, preliminary to go on until Friday,
started last Friday (September 30) with 20 tents. Employees of the
patrol service of the Police state that the rally is taking place
    without incidents.

According to Vladimir Karapetyan, a leading representative of the
opposition alliance, this rally is the logical continuation of their
    struggle.

"We were constantly insisting that early elections will give an
opportunity to put Armenia on the way of normal development. We had to
take such steps because the authorities did not listen to us, and we
do hope this time the 24-hour events will make the authorities show
a more sensible approach," Karapetyan says.

"I have been fighting for four years, and I will keep on fighting
till the end so that the country (Armenia) becomes normal. My
grandchildren got higher education; however, they have no job. I get
only a 23,000-dram (about $63) pension per month, meanwhile, they
(the authorities) have their own business, and they construct their
elite buildings. I am a woman; I have come and sat here. Aren't they
ashamed to close the toilet?!" says 63-year-old Kima Karapetyan.

It has been an opposition complaint since day one of the sitting
strike that all nearby toilets have been closed.

ArmeniaNow has found out that some cafes near Liberty Square have
stopped working, and the toilets in other cafes are not working.
