GANIRA PASHAYEVA DEMANDS PACE TO CONDEMN ILLEGAL ELECTIONS HELD BY SEPARATISTS IN NAGORNO KARABAKH

Member of Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly
of the Council of Europe Ganira Pashayeva made a speech during the
discussion held around report on the activity of PACE Political Bureau
and Standing Bureau on the first day of autumn session.

Pashayeva reminded that the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia
is described by the resolution No. 1416 adopted by PACE and this
resolution demands Armenia to withdraw its troops from the occupied
    lands immediately:

"But Armenia doesn't fulfil PACE and UN resolutions and holds illegal
elections in the occupied Azerbaijani lands, including unrecognized
"Nagorno Karabakh Republic" not paying attention to the calls and
demands of the Council of Europe".

The municipal elections held in the occupied Azerbaijani territories
on September 18, are contrary to the international law, to UN, OSCE
and PACE resolutions, at the same time it is a serious blow on the
negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the settlement of
Nagorno Karabakh conflict and it tensed the situation in the region.

The Assembly must condemn such cases and seriously demand Armenia to
    stop such steps.

Besides, the MP raised an issue on murder of 13-year-old Aygun
Shahmaliyeva by Armenian soldiers on July 13 this year: "I represent
the regions bordering with Armenia. A girl by the name of Aygun
Shahmaliyeva was killed by Armenian armed forces on July 13 this year.

Our assembly must not keep silence to such crimes committed against
children. Aygun's family is waiting for your protest voice and
increasing of your efforts towards the punishment of criminals".
