YEREVAN- During a speech at the Armenian Parliament, Speaker of the
Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri on Tuesday reiterated Syria's right
to restore the occupied Syrian Golan up to the June 4th 1967 line.
Berri said that Syria will become a model for a modern, democratic,
advanced, strong and resilient system in the Middle East which will
stand in the face of Israeli aggression and achieve the balance
necessary for achieving just and comprehensive peace in the region.
Berri reiterated rejection of interference in countries' internal
affairs, particularly using "constructive chaos," stressing that one
country oppressing another is unacceptable in neighboring relations.
He pointed out that Lebanon and Syria adhere to stances and standards
that guarantee their sovereignty over their lands and resources are
committed to international resolutions no. 425 and no. 1701, but
Israel continues to disregard and violate international resolutions.
Berri said that Israel continues to avoid the requirements of just
and comprehensive peace according to the land-for-peace principle,
adding that international decision-making seeks to accuse and indict
each individual Arab country and uses the policy of divide and conquer.
He concluded his speech by thanking Armenia for its constant support
of Arab causes and its support for Lebanon in confronting Israeli
violations.
