PARIS. - No difference who will be Armenia's next President,
famous French-Armenian singer, current Ambassador of Armenia to
Switzerland Charles Aznavour said at an exclusive interview with
Nouvelles d`Armenie.
Aznavour's only desire is to have open Armenian-Turkish borders,
which will allow Armenia to breathe a little.
"Armenia suffers and gets abandoned every day. Thousands of poor
Armenians scatter in the world. This is the reality, which worries
me," confessed the singer and added that Armenians are concentrated
on the word 'genocide', which the Turks dispute.
"So I ask the Turks, if it is not genocide, then how to call the
annihilations of a nation? How would have Ataturk himself qualified the
situation? How would it have been called before the term 'genocide'
was originated? Was it massacre? If the Turks do not want to use the
word genocide, let them at least admit that it was massacre. It will
also be a great success, if we achieve it," Aznavour believes.
Besides, when Armenians dwell on genocide, Turks develop. Armenia
is in a serious trouble and still goes on stumbling at the word
'genocide'. I do not see how it contributes to the state going ahead.
Where is the logic? Aznavour asks.
