Changes in the recent resolution adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly
of the Council of Europe are also the results of the 24-hour rallies,
coordinator of opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) has said.
Speaking to activists on Liberty Square, Levon Zurabyan noted three
points where this resolution is different from the previous one.
According to him, if in the previous one the PACE had said that
the chapter of the 1, 2 March 2008 events can be considered closed,
now it has been changed.
"Now they have changed it: it can be considered closed for the PACE,
but the monitoring of the ten killings must be continued by Europe,"
said he.
"Second, they had questioned that opposition's demand over snap
elections. We mentioned that it is a direct intervention in the
country's internal affairs, and now we register that that provision
has been removed," explained Levon Zurabyan.
Further, he said that the PACE has also promised to send a larger
observation mission to monitor the upcoming elections in Armenia.
"These three important victories have been achieved thanks to the
consistent work of the parents of those ten killed, but also due
to HAK's insistent diplomatic pressure and round-the-day rallies,"
said Levon Zurabyan.
