Embassy of Armenia will soon be established in Lithuania with the
decision of the Armenian government. Deputy foreign minister Shavarsh
Kocharyan presented the draft decision at the outgoing sitting of
the government in the town of Artashat, Ararat province today.
He reminded that in 1991 Lithuania was the first to recognize Armenia's
independence and in 2005 Lithuania's Seim recognized the fact of the
Armenian Genocide. Till now Armenia did not have embassy in either
of countries of Transbaltic region. The ties with the Transbaltic
countries have been ensured by the Armenian ambassador to Poland who
is residing in Warsaw.
Establishment of embassy in Vilnius will create effective ties with
Estonia and Latvia as well, Shavarsh Kocharyan said.
