INTEREST IN DIGITEC GROWING YEAR BY YEAR

"We are very glad that interest in DigiTec is growing year by year",
Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan said at the opening of the
7th annual DigiTec ICT/High Tech Expo in Yerevan today. The fact that
the number of participants increased by 70% witnesses that "DigiTec"
has its unique place in the development of IT," the prime minister
said, adding that it is a platform that gives an opportunity to
present new services, at the same time have an idea how this sphere
may develop in Armenia.
Tigran Sargsyan said in 2000 the Armenian government declared
the IT and telecommunication sphere as a priority. "Thanks to the
cooperation of the government and IT sphere during these years, we
register that serious prerequisites have been created that may serve
as important engines for development. We must take into consideration
the circumstance that we have about 300 enterprises in this sphere, and
the number of employees reaches 5500", he said, adding that if adding
the telecommunication sphere 10 000 people are working in the sphere.
The prime minister said during these days the people will be presented
the new projects that will promote the development of the sphere.
