Armenia can always rely on France's friendship and political support,
French President Nicolas Sarkozy stated at a news conference held
jointly with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan.
Armenia is between the world powers responsible for global security -
Russia, Turkey, Iran. Since Armenia gained independence 20 years ago,
its course has been of high importance for the region, which is highly
unstable, the French leader said.
President Nicolas Sarkozy welcomes his Armenian counterpart's steps
toward peace with Azerbaijan and dialogue with Turkey. The closed
Armenian-Turkish border is unacceptable in the 21st century, he said.
According to the French leader, the roots of the Armenian-Turkish
relations are in the two peoples' common history.
