RESPONSE BY THE ARMENIAN AMBASSADOR TO THE UN TO THE SPEECH OF THE AZERBAIJANI REPRESENTATIVE

The sessions of the six UN main committees in New York are underway.
The Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations addressed the General Assembly
First Committee on Disarmament and International Security.
In the course of the discussion, the Azerbaijani delegate tried to
accuse the Armenian side of concealing 8 tanks which are more than
the Europe agreement on general armament.
Noting that the speech of the Azerbaijani delegate full of well-worn
arguments is out of the issues on the agenda, the Armenian delegate
mentioned about the unsuccessful attempts of Azerbaijan to mislead the
international community which threaten to the security and stability
of the region, and lead the efforts of the mediators to solve the
regional conflicts to a deadlock.
The ignorance by Azerbaijan of the urges of the international
agencies, including the UN General Assembly, OSCE member countries
and Minsk Group Co-Chairs to remove snipers from the line of contact
and to take up steps to strengthen confidence and the militaristic
behavior of Azerbaijan contradict to the international agreement, in
particular the UN resolutions on the general armament and reduction
of the military budget, regional disarmament, transparency of armament.
