"It is unacceptable for Armenian-Turkish border to remain closed in
2012". Nikolas Sarkozy announced this at the press conference held on
October 7 within the framework of a two-day official visit to Armenia.
He underlined that he encouraged Armenian President Serzh Sargysan
to continue the dialogue over the regulation of Armenian-Turkish
relations.
French President asked his Armenian counterpart to continue makng
efforts in establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan which
comes from the interests of the two countries. French President
reminded that after the Armenian Genocide France helped and accepted
Armenians who survived the Genocide. "Armenia knows well that it can
rely on France's friendship and political support," Nikolas Sarkozy
said, appreciating Armenia's last 20 years since its independence as
"significant" especially taking into consideration the factor of
instability in the region.
Nikolas Sarkozy underlined that France attaches importance to the
development of Armenian-French deep relations. French President also
attaches importance to his visit to Armenia which is located in the
strategic crossroads between Russia, Turkey and Iran.
