TIME FOR ARMENIA TO BECOME A FULL MEMBER OF THE FRANCOPHONE FAMILY - FRENCH PRESIDENT
Tert.am
07.10.11
The Armenian and French peoples like working together because they
respect each other, share treasures of cultural and civilization,
French President Nicolas Sarkozy said at the unveiling ceremony of
a statue of Auguste Rodin in France Square in Yerevan.
Education, language and universities have for a long time served as
a bridge between the two nations, which enables them to understand
each other, he added.
"I mean the French University of Armenia, which turns out more than
200 economists and lawyers every year," the French president said.
He also spoke of the 250 schools where French is taught, bilingual
kindergartens and vocational schools, as well as the hundreds of
Armenian students attending universities of France. The French leader
expressed a wish that their number rise in the course of time.
It is time for Armenia to become a full member of the Francophone
family, President Sarkozy said.
Armenia loves the French language and French culture, without
forgetting its own language and culture, identity and history, the
French president said.
