At the joint press conference of the Armenian and French presidents
held today morning in Yerevan, the leaders dwelt on energy issues.

Serzh Sargsyan in particular stated that Armenia understands the
efforts of Europe on energy diversification which are expressed also
through energy projects in our region. But, Serzh Sargsyan said at
the same time, that a balanced approach is expected which will ensure
equal development of the countries of our region avoiding the becoming
of this projects a source of war.

"We are expecting the attention of the same European countries to
the security of our country and stability in our region," said the
    Armenian president.

But according to Serzh Sargsyan, the EU should implement such programs
that will be aimed at the regional integration and will serve for
    peace and not war.

The President of France made quite a noteworthy statement. He said
that in the nearest future, a French working group will arrive in
Armenia to study the possibilities of supporting our country in the
sphere of nuclear energy. Sarkozy stated that they will do everything
to help Armenia develop new sources of energy.

Nikolas Sarkozy stated that Armenia can rely on France's friendship.

He noted that the Caucasus is an important region for the world and
Armenia is on the crossroad of civilizations and superpowers Russia,
    Turkey and Iran.

Sarkozy also urged to find the ways leading to peace with Azerbaijan.

Sarkozy called on Sargsyan to go on making efforts to normalize the
Armenian and Turkish relations and issued the French support in this
connection. Sarkozy also said that closed borders are unacceptable
    in the 21st century.
