Sony in preparation for producing movie on life of Steve Jobs, reports say
09 October 2011, Sunday / TODAYSZAMAN.COM ,
Sony Pictures Entertainment is preparing to produce a film on the life
of Silicon Valley legend Steve Jobs, whose death last week sent waves
of sorrow across the world, media reports say.
The film will be based on `Steve Jobs: A Biography by Walter
Isaacson,' the soon-to-be-published authorized biography of the
inventor written by Isaacson, former CNN chairman and Time managing
editor. Just days after the death of Apple's co-founder, Sony Pictures
is reportedly in negotiations to buy the screen rights for the book.
Isaacson's book is based on more than 40 interviews with Jobs
conducted over two years as well as interviews with more than a
hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors and
colleagues. The Turkish media recently reported that the book reveals
that the woman who raised the legendary head of the Apple Company, who
died last Wednesday at the age of 56 after a years-long and highly
public battle with cancer and other health issues, was the daughter of
an Armenian family who immigrated to the US from Turkey's Malatya.
The book says Clara Jobs is the daughter of an Armenian family that
immigrated to the US from Turkey's Malatya province following the 1915
incidents during World War I in Anatolia that resulted in the deaths
of many Armenians. The book reportedly says Clara's father Louis
Hagopian was born in Malatya in 1894 and her mother Victoria Artinian
was born in İzmir in 1894.
The book is set to be released in November. Sony has recently had a
string of hits based on biographies, including `The Social Network'
and `Moneyball.'
