RUBEN MELKONYAN: ARMENIA MAY RECALL ITS SIGNATURE FROM ARMENIA-TURKISH PROTOCOLS

The next step in Armenian-Turkish relations is distinct in the
Armenian political arsenal. Armenia may unexpectedly recall its
signature from the Armenian-Turkish protocols. Turkologist Ruben
Melkonyan told today a press conference that even if the Armenian
party recalls its signature the first, all the same, the Turkish
party will be guilty for it.
According to him, those protocols cannot perpetually remain in
the agenda of Armenia. "Taking into consideration the geopolitical
position, when the regional political agenda is engaged in other
issues, it is not time for abrupt steps: Armenian-Turkish relations
are not very primary," he noted, adding that they live as much as
the conditions given life to them.
The Armenian-Turkish protocols have been signed in October, 2009,
in Zurich. But their ratification process has been suspended because
of the deconstructive position of Turkey.
