TAXI DRIVER IN ISTANBUL BEATS FEMALE PASSENGER FOR BEING ARMENIAN

ISTANBUL. - A bizarre and sad incident occurred in Istanbul on Sunday,
Marmara Armenian daily of Istanbul writes. A taxi driver swore at
and punched his passenger just for being an Armenian. The female
passenger turned to the police.
"The woman sat in a taxi whose driver asked her: 'It seems from your
accent that you are not Turkish. Are you Armenian, or Jewish?' The
woman honestly responded by saying she was Armenian, after which the
driver not only swore at her, but also punched her face, and then
threw the women out of the car.
Fortunately, a lawyer was passing from the area, who registered the
car's license plate, and then came to the assistance of the Armenian
woman, who turned to the police," Marmara writes
The police found the taxi but could not find its driver. Some said
that he was mentally ill.
