NATURE PROTECTION AND MINE INDUSTRY ISSUE DISCUSSED AT FIRST CONFERENCE OF RURAL COMMUNITIES

Deputy nature protection minister Simon Papyan said that the nature
protection and mine industry task group had quite interesting
discussions and "we came to a common agreement connected with
environment and mine industry sphere". "According to it, the local
self-governmental bodies must directly participate in the issues of
protection of environment as the whole territory of Armenia is divided
into communities in this regard we have a big role in the protection
of environment," Papyan said summing up the discussion of their group
at the first conference of rural communities.
"The basis of the functioning local-self-governmental bodies is "We
are assisting the protection of environment". At the conference we
discussed how this mechanism should function", Papyan said, adding
that during discussions certain steps have been undertaken and there
are communities that have clearly formed programs of development and
protection of environment.
