CAB DRIVER ATTACKS WOMAN FOR BEING AN 'INFIDEL'

A Turkish citizen of Armenian descent was attacked by a cab driver
in İstanbul recently after being asked about her ethnicity.
According to a Radikal daily report on Wednesday, a woman took a cab
in a central location near the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery, and while inside
the taxi she was asked by the cab driver if she was Armenian or Jewish
"because she has an accent."
After she replied that she is an Armenian, the cab driver asked:
"What does your holy book tell you? Who are you? Why are you here?"
The woman attempted to get out of the cab, but the driver tried to
prevent her from doing so and said: "You will burn in hell. You are
an infidel," before suddenly taking a swing at her and then leaving
her in the middle of the street, according to the report.
A lawyer who was passing by helped her and took down the license
plate number of the taxi. The woman decided not to file a complaint at
the police station after finding out that the driver has a criminal
record. However, renowned lawyer Kezban Hatemi has convinced her to
pursue the case.
