RA MINISTRIES OF TERRITORIAL ADMINISTRATION AND DIASPORA HOLD JOINT ADVISORY BOARD SESSION

On October 12, the RA Ministries of Territorial Administration and
Diaspora held a joint advisory board session with the participation of
RA Deputy Prime Minister, RA Minister of Territorial Administration
Armen Gevorgyan, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, governors
of Armenian provinces, heads of districts of Yerevan and communities,
other officials and cultural figures. Also attending the session was
President of the World Armenian Congress and the Union of Armenians
of Russia Ara Abrahamyan.
The agenda included the results of the "Ari Tun" program for
periodic visits of Diaspora Armenia youth to Armenia and the "Annual
Pan-Armenian Awards for Notable Contributions to the Preservation of
Armenian Identity.
On behalf of the government, RA Deputy Prime Minister, RA Minister
of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan expressed gratitude
to all citizens, families, as well as territorial administration and
local self-government bodies for supporting the implementation of the
"Ari Tun" program.
Chief of Staff of the RA Ministry of Diaspora F. Zakaryan briefly
presented the results of the "Ari Tun" program for periodic visits
of Diaspora Armenian youth to Armenia. The "Ari Tun" program is one
of the major objectives of the ministry's policy on the development
of Armenia-Diaspora partnership and is one of the fundamental and
continuous programs for preservation of the Armenian identity. It is
of a cognitive nature and has been implemented since 2009. In 2009,
the program brought together 300 youth from 15 countries, nearly
600 youth from 26 countries in 2010 and nearly 800 youth from 35
countries in 2011. Taking into account the work experience with
local self-government bodies, Zakaryan proposed to select another
30 communities near Yerevan in addition to the districts of Yerevan
and propose that those communities receive 15-20 participants of the
"Ari Tun" program for nine days in June, July and August.
Then, the attendees viewed a film about the "Ari Tun" program.
Greeting the gathered, Minister Hakobyan said she was pleased to see
that the "Ari Tun" program was warmly welcomed in Armenia and abroad.
"It has already turned into a pan-national program, and each
participant considers that program his own," the minister mentioned.
Hakobyan expressed gratitude to Armenia's high-ranking officials for
supporting the program, as well as to the local self-government bodies
and host families for their active support to the implementation of
the program.

letters of gratitude to heads of territorial administration bodies,
districts in Yerevan and communities and those who had supported the
"Ari Tun" program.
Head of the Division for Scientific-Educational Programs of the
Department of All-Armenian Programs at the RA Ministry of Diaspora
Sirvard Hambaryan delivered a report on the Annual Pan-Armenian Awards
for Notable Contributions to the Preservation of Armenian Identity,
which was the second issue on the advisory board's agenda. The results
of the contests for Best Armenian Language Teacher, Best Youth
Organization and "Piece of Homeland" held in 2011 will be summed
up in November and December. The program is implemented by the RA
Ministry of Diaspora and the World Armenian Congress, the Ministry's
press service reports.
