YEREVAN, October 12. /ARKA/. Armenia wants to buy agricultural
machinery of the production of Russian Association of Manufacturers
of agricultural machinery on the principles of leasing, said Armenian
Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan to the journalists on Wednesday.
"Delegation of Rosagromash visited Armenia some days ago. We had
meetings in the Ministry and with the Prime Minister. In its result
we signed an agreement which will soon be effective. There is an
agreement to provide us machinery on preferential basis and long-term
lease with a maturity date of up to 7 years", said Karapetyan.
He said that it is a preliminary agreement, after which there will
be negotiations for the implementation of the planned projects.
"Agricultural machinery in Armenia is depreciated and needs
restoration. 70% of the machinery has operated for over 20 years. Only
30% is renovated and 5.4% of the park of agricultural machinery
corresponds to the operation dates", said the Minister.
The Armenian side is interested in the establishment of joint
enterprises, service centers, specialized storages of spare parts,
as well as center of training of the specialists.
The park of the main agricultural machinery in Armenia today is 14832
tractors, 1413 combine harvesters and 315 harvesters.
In Armenia, agricultural machinery is mainly the product of the leading
Russian machine-building companies which was successfully used in
Armenia for many years. 60% of Russian agricultural machinery is
