PanARMENIAN.Net - In near future, Armenia will increase food security
level to achieve a result of 80%, according to Armenian Agriculture
Minister.
As Sergo Karapetryan told a news conference in Yerevan, a 2010-2012
food security provision concept was developed and confirmed by a
presidential decree.
"At present, Armenia's food self-sufficiency ratio reaches 60%, with
the country planning to increase the figure to 80%," the Minister said.
Adoption of a food security concept sets a firm foundation for
stimulating local agricultural production, also developing mechanisms
to increase crediting availability for farmers and agricultural
enterprises.
