ARMENIAN TEACHERS FILE COMPLAINT TO EUROPEAN COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS - NEWSPAPER

    Oct 13 2011

YEREVAN. - "For years on end 2,500-3,000 drams ($7-$8 US) were kept
from our salaries, supposedly for activities of the School's trade
union, but it became clear that we did not have a trade union,"
    Armenian capital Yerevan's Monte Melkonian School's English-language
teacher Lilia Margaryan told Yerkir daily, the latter writes.

"She could not 'swallow' the injustice, and, together with the School's
literature teacher, Margarit Ispiryan, filed a lawsuit against the
School's principal, Ruzanna Azizyan. In the meantime, Margaryan was
dismissed and this was approved by the court. Finding that their right
    for a fair trial-envisioned by Armenia's international agreement-was
violated, the teachers filed a complaint to the European Court of
Human Rights, and the case was accepted," Yerkir writes.
