Regular meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents may
be held under mediation of French leader Nicolas Sarkozy, Russian
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes referring to Azerbaijani sources.
The source says the proposal was made during Sarkozy's recent visit
to the region, it was discussed and approved by the Presidents of
U.S. and Russia.
The newspaper writes representative of the Armenian foreign office
categorically dismissed the reports.
Back in 2009 presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing states -
U.S, France and Russia - released a joint statement on the sidelines
of G8 summit in L'Aquila. The statement contained basic principles
of Karabakh conflict settlement.
These principals were once again voiced in a joint statement made in
Canada's Muskoka in June, 2010.
This June leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia met in Kazan but
reached no breakthrough in talks.
