For three years the Armenian branch of the International Police
Association (IPA) has been doing preparatory work to become a full
member of the Association.
So far our country has been participating in the Association's summits
as an observer. The issue of Armenia's membership was discussed
during the Association's summit at the end of September, and the
discussions were rather hot, Chairman of the Armenian branch of the
International Police Association, Police Colonel Grisha Sargsyan told
reporters today.
According to him, the issue of Armenia's full membership irritated
the Turkish delegates. Instead, heads of association of a number of
influential countries spoke positively about Armenia.
"Head of the Israeli branch of the International Police Association
considers Armenia may join the IPA as a full member during the next
summit of the Association scheduled for September 2-9 in Israel. This
is something many countries do not manage to reach for many years,"
Grisha Sargsyan said.
